23 JULY 2024 devotional

“And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee. (2 Chronicles 14:11)

After yesterday’s devotional, I kinda preached myself happy! LOL. I have been meditating on it all day today – how God is greater than our enemies, how He created our enemies in the womb, how no weapon formed against me shall prosper. It has, overall, been a pretty good day!

I was initially looking for another scripture, but this one seemed to POP off the page when I read it, so I’m gonna run with it. God is obviously reminding all of us – not just me – that He is our Savior, He is our Advocate, He is our Judge, He is our Vindicator, He is our Strength, He is our Deliverer! The more you look at the different descriptions and actions of God throughout scripture, how could you NOT get excited? No matter whether you are facing a Red Sea experience in your life where you think there is absolutely no way out and death is closing in – God is there to part the waters and make a way where there SEEMED to be no way. Maybe you have stood up for your beliefs in the workplace and now you are under condemnation and pressure because of it. If so, remember Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They refused to bow to the pressure, boldly declaring instead, “Our God, Whom we serve, is able to deliver us, O king. And even if he doesn’t, we are still going to worship and serve only Him.” Passage after passage tell of the God we serve and how He stepped in and miraculously turned it all around. Yes they still may have had to go through the fire, flood, prison, lion’s den, etc., but God was with them. I encourage you to read Hebrews 11, then go back and study the examples of each of them in scripture. The Bible tells us that the world was and is not worthy of such people of faith, yet they lived their lives in such a way that God got glory for it.

This passage today follows closely the pattern of the one from a couple of days ago where we are shown to lay out before God the accusations and attacks with which we are threatened, step three steps back, be still, and watch Him go to work on our behalf. Hallelujah! He is AWESOME!!!

This is exceptionally short today, but I’m sure you don’t mind. I challenge you to follow the pattern I have shown you in scripture the past few days. We all are facing something, it seems. It may not be lions, it may not be cancer, it may not be the firing squad, but I guarantee you if the Devil has his way about it, your situation will become just a life-threatening. Stop playing with him, quit trying to talk over the top of him, quit trying to reason it all out. Read the Word, memorize the Word, meditate on the Word, and let it change you into a living, breathing representation of the Son of God on earth.

Be blessed.
