Mosaic Law

This is an interesting discussion on Mosaic Law. In today’s society and, I emphasize “church,” we pervert the law for moral relativism and acquiescence to today’s carnal desires. The law that Moses received from God was intended to transcend the test of time. My interpretation of God’s law in that it continues on into the words of Jesus, and still resound today. As I dig further into the Scripture, it just reaffirms my position on the entirety of the Bible as we know it today. It is one unbreakable strand that still exists. The tendency in today’s church is to not offend with the Word of God. Jesus=Truth. Mosaic Law=Truth. The Gospels and Epistles=Truth. Bible=Truth. Jesus in His physical form was the embodiment of all of this.
Sadly, in today’s church some will execute the II Timothy 4:3 because they want more money in the plate or whatever. We are charged to teach, as pastors and scholars in Titus 2. Do we want to get paid, wear custom suits, drive nice cares? Or do we want people to go to Heaven. So, I draw back to Mosaic Law. Jesus was quite clear in that He had to speak to those who were limited in intellect (stupid) and He simplified the Ten Commandments into Matthew 22, as they came so forgetful of the Standard (if you notice, I use upper case on all things that came from God). Jesus was pretty clear in Matthew 22 and many disregard the immensity of His words. The Mosaic Law still applies today.
Now, conversely, or scholarly adversarial, we talk can speak of Levitical Law. Yes, quite strict. I would aver that it was a means for command and control by God to discipline an entire nation of people to set the conditions for Jesus. Remember, God is God and knows everything. Imagine leading an entire nation of people out of subjectivity and enslavement from a military elite state of Egypt and dragging them through the desert. Could any of us do this without regimented orders and procedures? Hmmm. We can barely keep our church pews filled.
Jesus was clear in Matthew 22 when I laid the Law out simply for the intellectually challenged to understand. Remember, He was asked the question by the scholars of the Law who didn’t even understand it themselves! Jesus gave THREE imperative orders here. First four commandments to God, and the second six commandments to one another—oh, and the last and third was to “love yourself” that no one in the ministry addresses (I certainly don’t as I am “day-on, stay-on”). These three amazing commandments from our Savior and Master certainly lay down the Law of God given to Moses. If we were to abide by Mosaic Law as a society, we would not have to deal with the issues we deal with today! Satan fully understands “mission creep” and seeks a gap to draw us away from the Law that God gave Moses for an orderly life and society. Think about it.
