ARE YOU A CHRISTIAN?
A simple question. I guess if we are using identity politics, I am a Christian, meaning I follow the laws of God, teachings of Jesus and lessons of the Scripture. I am an American as I was born here, obey the laws, love the Constitutional foundations. I am Caucasian—pigment doesn’t mean so much to me as I can get plenty dark in the summer and would be considered “Black Irish” in my heritage. I am a man as I was biologically born this way and am thankful. My wife (woman), who will go through menopause and will have certain chemical reactions—me?, well I will want a convertible Ferrari—very different. I am heterosexual—absolutely am attracted to my wife every day of the week. There—that’s me. But, what did I say FIRST and FOREMOST…I AM A CHRISTIAN.
Some Christians are better Republicans, other Christians are better Democrats, and I see so many Christians that are more politically involved in everything other than the true faith of Christianity. As a Christian, are you Biblically engaged or do you care more about what Fox, CNN, Muddy River News or others are saying than what Scripture is saying?
When our priority is shifted by the economy, politics, etc., away from God it all falls apart our truth seems to shift socially and politically. Paul tells me first and foremost that I am as a Christian a citizen of Heaven in Philippians 3:20. I was bought with a price, redeemed by the sacrifice and blood of Jesus, and eternally thankful. That is my primary identity and my number one allegiance is to my Christianity.
My pure Christianity is how I view politics, social issues, and even history. I am obliged to look at everything through the lens of God, Jesus and analysis of the Scripture. What society says means NOTHING to me. So, I ask you again, are you a Christian? Eternity and the judgment seat of God will know.
There are pastors who think that if they are nice enough, people will see the love of Jesus through “niceness” or at the very least people will come to Christ because we are nice people—which we are. Well, we ARE nice, but I’m direct and frothy—even my wife counsels me often on this “gift” God gave me in my “I really don’t care” button. Jesus had one.
I consider Jesus the greatest teacher of all time. Did Jesus ever offend anyone? Yep! How bad did he offend others? So much, that they gave him the most humiliating and horrific death you can imagine. Thus, when I get pushback for speaking Christian truth from the gay community, the abortion advocates, and others, I really don’t care. I am speaking to a degenerate society just as Jesus was, and like Jesus, I am more than prepared for Satan to come at me within and outside of the church.
Jesus promised me I would be attacked, told me to take up my cross daily and follow Him, die to my self interests, to live for Him, and to recognize that every day I drag the sleep from my eyes, I am in the fight. You know what I say? Thank you God that I was deemed worthy for You to call me into this insanity and doing it all in YOUR name God. God is taking job applications…if you have the guts.
