HOW DO CHRISTIANS VOTE?—HOW SHOULD A CHRISTIAN VOTE?—AND WHAT IS THE ROLE OF THE CLERGY?

       I have been getting a great many poignant questions from my ordination students on this matter.  There is confusion on “separation between church and state” a lie repeated ad nauseum to keep God out of the equation while big government becomes its own form of religion.  As the midterm elections are coming up, I asked myself some serious questions about how so-called religious or non-religious people vote as it is an important issue for our Constitutional Republic as well as all clergy.  It is a frightening when I hear false Christian Talarico say that God is non-binary, when actuality God is not sexual at all! When politicians say that Islam is a peaceful religion, PLEASE show that to me historically—idiots!  To ensure the veracity of my premise, I get quite a few of my statistics in the United States from the Pew Research Center, a non-for-profit group who successfully analyzes data without a particular bias in any occasion.  I then take that data and bounce it off of other renowned research agencies for a balanced approach.  In my research for this analysis on American voting by faith, it all came out the way I thought it would, but would like show some interesting trend lines that are evolving.  The date range for this analysis is 1994-2023.

       We see that the nation is equally divided with liberal progressives holding 49%, conservatives holding 48%, with a 3% with no opinion—and this data is ONLY for registered voters.  For all Protestant groups the trends are 38% progressive liberal and 59% conservative.  The data gets more interesting and refined.  For white evangelical Protestants only 14% progressive liberals, with 85% are conservative.  In the white non-evangelical Protestants there is a rise of liberal progressives to 39%, and lowering the conservative vote to 58%.  A very different dynamic comes with black Protestants who vote 84% liberal progressive, and only 11% conservative.  Hispanic Protestants are 45% liberal progressive and 49% conservative.

       I saw an interesting dynamic in the Catholic church in that across the board professing Catholics vote 44% liberal progressive and 52% conservative.  White Catholics vote 37% liberal progressive and 61% conservative.  The Hispanic Catholics vote 60% liberal progressive versus 35% conservative.  There was no surprise on the Mormon vote with only 23% liberal progressive and 75% conservative.  Jewish vote is 69% liberal progressive and 29% conservative.  Muslim vote 66% liberal progressive versus 32% conservative.

       All unaffiliated faiths vote 70% liberal progressive versus 27% conservative.  Atheists vote 84% liberal progressive versus 13% conservative.  Agnostics vote 78% liberal progressive versus 21% conservative.  An interesting note is the statistic that illustrates the population who doesn’t think anything at all votes 62% liberal progressive versus 34% conservative.  Special note: blue states have a much higher percentage of atheists than red states.  For example, atheist population in states exceed 40-50% in states like Vermont, Oregon, and Washington.  Whereas atheists only hover at 1-3% in red states like Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Arkansas—what liberal progressives outwardly call “backward, uneducated, unenlightened,” etc., to perpetuate an unfair moniker and narrative to diminish the “Bible Belt.”

       My second question is how should Christians vote?  If you truly consider yourself within any of the Christan Protestant, Catholic categories, and I would contend Jewish know you accept not acknowledging the directions of Jesus and even the Torah and still call yourself a Christian, Catholic, or Jew?  Or are you in the “almost” category with your faith?  Progressive liberal theology has permeated the overall church and perpetuates its growth by allowing our foundational tenets to be blinded by organizational and individual sin that takes on many forms, and in this case voting and deepening the chasm between truth and comfort or social norming.  I have seen a great divide form because of progressive liberalism in the church—I have felt the pain of brothers in the pulpit who have seen the divide in the Methodist, Lutheran, and Presbyterian churches, where one half stayed orthodox and the others “progressed” to homosexuals, transgenders, and unqualified women in the pulpit.  I see the same in the Jewish faith between orthodox, conservative, reformed, reconstructionist, humanist, Jewish “renewal,” and secular…and the overall Protestant and Catholic church thought they had it tough.  Remember, we have under-educated our churches, cathedrals, and synagogues so much that we are essentially dealing with “stupid” and all our own fault.

But, being the man I am, I would ask why any Christan, Catholic, or Jew vote for anyone who is evil, wicked, kills babies in the womb, or other, i.e. supporting any killing of the innocent?  Perhaps, and politically seeking out the best of the worst in politicians.  This dynamic occurs because too many people of faith do not recognize evil because society has completely inverted virtue to mean something dark and wicked.  They currently worship a sissified Jesus, think that God should conform to our needs instead of us following God’s commands.  Others are too cowardly to confront evil for fear of being cancelled or uncool instead of being light and salt for others to emulate.  Their so-called Christian convictions are privately walled off internally like a monk from the 1^stCentury thinking they are more holy or spiritual—instead they are more indulgent, tolerant, and lack faith discipline.  There is also the lazy factor of faith, ignorance to the foundational commands and truths from the Old and New Testament.  There is also the selective ignorance or stupidity for personal spiritual comfort—not knowing is NOT an acceptable defense when we ALL stand before God.  Lastly, false teachers from the pulpit and those who are not even qualified to teach their faith or pervert so much from the original will be judged more harshly.  This is where the progressive liberal church and seminaries have failed.

       There are two shifts currently evolving.  The first is in the black church as more and more pastors are shying away from a liberal progressive doctrine that has done nothing to support their communities other than handouts, an alarming number of  abortions, and really digging into the Sacred text in the positive and lingering foundational tenets of faith.  The Jewish community is also seeing a shift due to the anti-Zionist movement fomented by liberal progressive, hyperbolic and unhistorical vitriol spewed by the left, and of course the genocide of October 7 is alienating many in this community from the left.

       My last question is what is the pastor’s role in all of this?  As an unaffiliated, non-denominational, full Bible Christan pastor by the Scripture I must be educated, continue daily study and research, assist my congregants in understanding foundational truths—sin, virtue, heaven, hell, right, wrong, good and evil—NOT because of what I think, but by what I believe to be God-breathed, inerrant Word of God tells us.  Being precise from the pulpit is paramount to me and non-negotiable.  If you are clergy, and are TRULY called to teach, train, minister, sacrifice your all for God’s mission, then good.  But if your ego is in money, power, control, and performance art.  Well, like I said, we ALL stand before God’s judgment and my personal God and personal Savior in Jesus were pretty direct in regard to the commands…NOT suggestions.  Protestant and Catholic clergy, don’t forget James 3:1 "Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.”  Godspeed my friends of the conservative cloth and be prepared to fearlessly use all of your polemic power to fend off evil and sin—don’t allow evil and sin to cancel what God directs from the pulpit.  Otherwise, remain a coward and face judgment and Hell.  Remember, in life and ESPECIALLY from the pulpit, nobility does not hide behind a lofty, gentle, TedTalk narrative.  Cowardice does!  Build and teach strong Christians…its your calling in service to God!

       Progressive liberalism, moral relativism, and anything outside of the Scripture has become firmly metastasized  in GOD’s church.  The cowardly clergy have turned the Christian identity into an apology.  The cowardly clergy teach us to despise the very foundation of our Christian Constitutional Republic and strong Biblical history.  Cowards from the pulpit now encourage children to resent their biology, shames men from their masculinity, and pushes women to reject their femininity.  Weak cowards from the pulpit are the real culprits in the demise of our nation and celebrate it every weekend from the lofty place of the pulpit.  Remember, and mark my words, Islam is a cult of conquest and certainly NOT one of peace, and socialism/Communism/Marxism hates God and any manner of faith beyond the government.  Be cautious in your vote.  Remember clergy, YOU have allowed sin and evil into the church and your uneducated congregants and you won’t won’t even know that Satan has owned you until he finally closes the prison door.  Once you have relinquished you theological integrity for the world and against the “way, the truth, and the life”—teachings and commands of Jesus you will feel no greater shame than when you stand before God on judgment day.  Like Nietzsche wrote: “Being hated by idiots is the price you pay be not being one of them.”  As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
